What the completed photography shows.

HOM Design & Build completed this full bathroom remodel in the Lakewood Hills neighborhood of Springfield, Virginia. The original flooring, vanity, sinks, toilet, bathtub, tub surround, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, lighting and finish materials were removed and replaced. The new tub surround was prepared with Durock cement board, protected with the Schluter waterproofing system and flood-tested before finish tile was installed. A recessed ceiling light now brightens the bathing area. The bathroom originally had entrances from both the hallway and primary bedroom; the bedroom doorway was closed and its former opening was converted into a regular closet with shelving and dedicated hamper space, while the hallway entrance remained in service.

Why the room feels resolved.

One doorway became useful storage

Closing the primary-bedroom bathroom entrance allowed the former opening to serve as an organized closet with shelving and a dedicated place for laundry.

Light was added where it matters

The new recessed ceiling light brightens the tub and shower area, while the glossy vertical wall tile reflects light through the bathing zone.

Contrast gives the long room definition

Dark-blue walls and a wood-toned vanity frame the light floor, countertop and tiled tub surround without making the room feel closed in.
