HOM Design & Build completed this full bathroom renovation in the Wayside neighborhood of Vienna, Virginia. The original bathroom had a metal-framed neo-angle shower, older neutral tile and a pedestal sink. The completed room features a custom tiled shower with a recessed niche, a vertical mosaic accent and a frameless glass enclosure with matte-black hardware. Geometric patterned floor tile, a dark vanity with drawer storage, a wall-hung mirror, updated lighting and coordinated black fixtures complete the brighter, more intentional design.

Design observations

Why the room feels resolved.

Glass opens the sightline

The frameless enclosure keeps the shower tile visible from the doorway and reduces the visual weight of the former metal-framed shower.

Pattern is used with control

The geometric floor gives the compact room character while the light gray shower tile keeps the overall composition calm.

Black details create continuity

The enclosure hardware, shower fixtures and vanity fixtures repeat one finish direction across the room.
